This pouch has brightly colored hibiscus among the florals on a black background. To me, it represents the hope we have in each day of our lives on earth. The hibiscus is the flower that represents St. Josephine.

The fabric is quilted. The zipper is a nylon zipper with a metal pull. The bag is structured due to the water-resistant pink canvas as the interior lining.

The bag measures 11 x 4.5 inches. It can be used for a short veil or to hold makeup, prayer cards and pens or smaller items. It is not long enough to hold a curling iron, but it will hold my smaller hair straightener (6 inches) and attached cord.

The story of St. Josephine Bakhita has enlightened me for the past two years. She was kidnapped and sold into slavery. She was tortured brutally by her owners and abused so severely. Her story is so incredible. You need to look up the details. What stands out to me is the following:

When asked by a student what St. Josephine would do if she encounted one of her captors or owners, Josephine replied,

“If I were to meet those who kidnapped me, and even those who tortured me, I would kneel and kiss their hands. For, if these things had not happened, I would not have been a Christian and a religious today.”

We can overcome anything with God's help and His love. Incredible.
